Paper Abstract:      The aim of this short paper is to outline a possible evolution path for e-government. E-government started as simple online services aiming to provide information and simplified form-filling. Currently, e-government services are more and more required to be platform-independent and constantly available – concepts such as mobile government and one-stopshop have gained popularity. The authors suggest that the future of e-government lies in the Internet of Things – offering ubiquitous and smart government services. U-government is about integrating government services seamlessly into our smart environment consisting of embedded and interconnected devices. The authors try to describe u-government, provide a more conclusive definition of u-government and offer an insight into one of its potential application areas. Uticket as an example u-government service is proposed in this paper and its technical feasibility investigated. Open issues for future research such as privacy, cost-efficiency, user acceptance, etc. are pointed out as well. Possible future ugovernment scenarios described in different literature are shortly discussed to provide readers with perspective on the various large-scale effects ubiquitous computing might have.
